Research/Engagement Experience
I am currently working on developing a dialog schema induction framework for social chatbots from large-scale chit-chat/social dialogue datasets, and sub-conversations that belong to specific domains of interest. Dialog Schemas are obtained from dialog instances, which are conversations in a specific domain. Similar to event schema induction temporal links between dialogue actions (similar to events) can guide what the next course of action is and the argument roles between entities and events and entity-entity relationships can also be mapped. I have been a CS STAR for a year now and I have been actively and passionately involved with engagement activities, especially for admitted women in CS, and encouraging people of all identities to overcome self-limiting beliefs and explore the field of Computer Science.

Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Interactive Computing, Programming Languages, Software Engineering, Security and Privacy, Theory and Algorithms

Project Title
Unsupervised Dialogue Schema Induction

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I have always had a knack for problem-solving and complex mathematics. As I delved into different non-routine topics in Mathematics, I learned that these topics have sophisticated solutions in Computer Science. I was taken to the abode of Computer Science. At UIUC, my interest in CS has grown as I have been able to solve problems while producing creative experiences. Through code, I can generate ideas that solve user-specific problems, design and ideate possible solutions, and then execute them.

What social interests matter to me?
Some of the social interests that matter to me are making CS education accessible to everyone and promoting diversity in tech-related fields, protecting the privacy of individuals, and making the world a more free place where all social groups and individuals co-exist in peace. Another social interest that I deeply care about is providing an equal platform for everyone to feel heard and realize their potential in their journey of continuous learning and growth.

What is my most impactful college experience?
My most impactful experience on campus was Quad Day and the Welcome Week events. It gave me a sense of belonging to UIUC. It showed me that UIUC has endless opportunities to cater to everyone's needs and it is truly a community of people from diverse backgrounds.

These are a few of my favorite things!
Traveling, board games, table tennis, meeting new people, solving math puzzles

Research Description
I am currently working on developing a potential dialog schema induction framework for social chatbots from large-scale chit-chat/social dialog datasets, and sub-conversations that belong to specific domains of interest. In my freshman year, I worked on leveraging advanced methods from NLP and Human-centered data science to identify and extract diverse impacts from funded projects. This increased interpretability of scholarly work and accounts for racial bias in academic funding.

Biography
I'm Stuti Agrawal, a junior in CS at the Grainger College of Engineering at UIUC. I am an international student from India, I grew up in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India. I've developed various projects, which have helped me gain skills in full-stack development, Natural Language Processing, and object-oriented and functional programming languages. I've worked with various technologies and am interested in exploring interdisciplinary fields in Computer Science and seeking potential opportunities!
