In 1980, Channing Brown earned a BS in computer science from the University of Illinois, followed by an MS. from Berkeley. After a 23-year career as a software engineer in the telecommunications industry, he returned to Illinois to work for NCSA in 2009. In 2010, he endowed this scholarship to support undergraduates.
