Engineer in Residence: Cory Levy
Cory Levy came to CS @ ILLINOIS in 2010 from his native Houston, leaving a year later to test himself as a Silicon Valley entrepreneur. He succeeded, starting two companies with College of Engineering alum Michael Callahan. The most recent, After School, is a social network for teens where they can share news, secrets, and compliments “without worry of being judged for who they are or how they feel.” Levy is COO.
Levy is also co-founder of Internapalooza, a tech conference for students and interns and was named to the 2017 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
Since Levy left CS @ ILLINOIS, he’s become a frequent campus visitor. He shares his time and the benefit of the lessons he learned at CS @ ILLINOIS and in Silicon Valley with students.
During his most recent visit, in October, Levy told us what generated interest in his first startup, who first invested in his idea, and why he keeps coming back to the university - including a great story about the support system he found here.
