Research/Engagement Experience
I researched the politics of urban encroachment in Mumbai alongside PhD students at University of California, Berkeley. We analyzed data to understand the types of complaints citizens make against each other.

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
My dad is a software developer, and seeing him work on his projects got me interested in Computer Science.

What social interests matter to me?
Equality of education, inspiring women in STEM

What is my most impactful college experience?
My freshman year, I joined Badminton for Fun with my roommate. Being a part of a sports team in college not only taught me to value my physical health and well-being, prioritizing sleep and my diet, but it also reinforced everything I knew about teamwork and the importance of each person in the group.

Research Description
I am working on developing a feature on the Illinois app where the students can take a survey assessing their soft skills and get a list of jobs they are suitable for based on their results. They can also look at other jobs and see what areas and skills they might need to improve to be better suited for the job they want.

Biography
Anushka Kansal is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science with a possible minor in business. Prior to CS STARS, she was part of a research project conducted by the Political Science department of University of California, Berkeley, where she researched the politics of urban encroachment in Mumbai, India. She has five years of experience in Java and Python. In addition to dabbling in the software aspect of computer science, she has delved into computer science theory as well. She has also developed a web chrome extension that helps users search for the cheapest prices of a product across multiple websites. She is an avid member of Asha For Education and CUBE Consulting. She also has experience in app development, Internet of Things, Cloud based computing, game development, and web design.
