Professional MCS Program

The professional Master of Computer Science (MCS) from CS @ ILLINOIS allows students to complete their degree on campus or entirely online. A coursework-based degree program, the MCS allows you to augment your education and accelerate your career by learning from world-class faculty who are advancing the frontiers of computer science.

Choose between three MCS options:

MCS in Data Science Track. Enroll in this completely online degree to learn about new statistical and computational tools that are transforming business and society from the Illinois faculty who are pioneering them. Discover Data Science: the art of extracting new knowledge and finding meaningful information in a massive sea of data. With our innovative MCS in Data Science (MCS-DS) track, offered in partnership with the School of Information Science and the Department of Statistics, students receive lectures through Coursera's massive open online course (MOOC) platform, but are advised and assessed by Illinois faculty and teaching assistants on the more rigorous set of assignments, projects, and exams required for university degree credit. Comprehensive On-Campus MCS. Join the student body on the Urbana-Champaign campus full-time to fast-track your studies and finish your degree in two or three semesters. Comprehensive Online MCS. Busy professionals can complete a degree part-time remotely while they continue to meet their current career obligations. Enroll in courses that are identical to our top-tier on-campus programs – the only difference is your location. Online MCS students receive the same lectures, class assignments, projects, and exams as our on-campus students.
